June Ipsy Glam Bag Review

June Ipsy bag 2016

Another month and another Ipsy bag! I have to be honest I do not like the design of the bag this month. I love the purple zipper but that’s about it. However, what matters is on the inside, right? Lets get into the great and the not so great items I got this month!

Hey Honey 27Seven: Day and Night Revitalizing Cream

IMG_3341

Okay you guys. When I got this product I was a bit disappointed because I subscribed to Ipsy for new makeup products. However, after using this cream for the first time I immediately ate my words… I am SO happy I received this little lotion sample! Not only does it smell just like honey ( which I love over the chemically smell of other lotions) but it keeps my skin feeling hydrated ALL day long! It isn’t too thick for the summer and lays nicely under makeup. I do sweat a lot in the summer (it has been in the 90’s every day here recently!) but have never had any problems with it beading off my face. I will definitely be repurchasing this cream and I cannot wait to check out more from this brand! If anyone has any suggestions please leave them in the comments below!

Full sized: $38 for 1.7 fluid ounces

Deluxe Sample: $11.18 for 0.5 fluid ounces (This pays for the whole bag right here!!)

Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Fireball

See the pink/orange duo chrome? So beautiful!

I am very happy I got this eyeshadow in this month’s bag! I wish the sample was larger (seriously, this is the smallest shadow sample I think I’ve ever received) but I can’t complain too much. Overall, I love the formula and the peachy/pink duo chrome that lasted all day long. I love using this shadow just above my crease as the pink peeks out just slightly adding a fun dimension to any look!

Full sized: $19 for 1.5 grams

Sample sized: $2.53 for 0.2 grams (This is seriously disappointing in my opinion. Urban Decay is a large company and they could afford to offer a better sized sample.)

P.S. The nail polish I’m wearing is from Color Club!

I am a blush junkie so this one was a welcome addition to my collection. I like that it isn’t a typical bright summer blush but more subdued. The website states that the blush can appear as a soft suede to a dusky rose on different skin tones. It pulled more suede (orangey-brown) on me which I really loved. For all of you wondering, this blush is also vegan!

Full sized: $18 for 2 grams (I couldn’t believe it but this blush was full sized!! Take note Urban Decay, this is great customer service!!)

Marc Anthony Dream Waves Beach Spray

IMG_3356

Why has Ipsy been sending me so many hair products recently!? My hair is pin straight and this beach spray did absolutely nothing for me. I put it in my hair when it was damp and then left it in a bun to dry and within a hour of letting it down my hair was completely straight. If your hair has natural body and wave to it, this product may work for you but for all your ladies with straight hair, save your money!

*Side note – This beach spray does have a nice floral scent (not beachy like other salt sprays) and is very affordable! It may be worth trying if you like these types of texturing products.

Full sized: $8.99 for 4.2 fluid ounces

Sample size: $3.21 for 1.5 fluid ounces (Still a better value than the Urban Decay Eyeshadow… can you tell that is still bothering me? LOL!)

Formula X Nail polish in Wingwoman

After a week of wear! Rudy is photobombing in the background! 😛

Ever since receiving a Formula X nail polish in a previous Ipsy bag, I’ve been obsessed with their formula. This gorgeous red is no different. It applies easily, the color was opaque in one coat and it lasted me about a week before I had to repaint my nails. Definitely another great product!

Full sized: $10.50 for 0.4 fluid ounces

Sample size: $3.56 for 4 mL

Check out Formula X at Sephora here

Total price I paid for the bag: $10

Total value of the bag this month: $38.48 –> This is the lowest value of products that I’ve ever gotten in my Ipsy bag!

Even though this bag’s design was a dud for me, I still loved most of the products that were picked for me. I’m still waiting on a perfect month where all five are gems… Maybe soon? If you want to sign up for a monthly subscription with Ipsy, please use my referral link here and we both get points toward an extra product in our bags 🙂

Travel Beauty Favorites!

products i love march 2016 edit

I have recently been traveling nonstop which means I have been living out of a small suitcase and an even smaller makeup bag! Narrowing down your makeup collection is always a challenge but these are my all-star items that have made my life so much easier while being on the go!

NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Soft Spoken – This liquid lipstick came in my March Ipsy bag which I just reviewed in my last blog which you can check out here. I love this rosey mauve color for a darker “my lips but better” color. It is perfect for every day as it lasts all day long without wearing off. It even lasted through all 3 meals! I have worn it everyday that I put on lipstick and I personally think it has complemented every outfit that I’ve worn very nicely!

Too Faced Love Flush Blush Palette – I have been dying to get my hands on a blush palette for months now so when I saw this beauty was for sale at Ulta I immediately added it to my cart! I plan on doing a whole blog devoted to this palette even though it was limited edition because all of the shades are permanently sold in full size packaging. While traveling I used them both as blushes and eyeshadows so they are extremely versatile and long lasting. Expect my review to be up within the month!

Almay Smart Shade Skin Tone Matching Makeup – I bought this CC cream on a whim because I was in desperate need of a foundation that wasn’t too orange for my skin tone. However, I fully intended on returning it once I could go out and buy the IT Cosmetics CC cream. Well, can you imagine my surprise when I ended up liking the Almay CC cream more than IT Cosmetics?! I have been so impressed with this foundation! It lasts all day, doesn’t stick to any dry patch, mixes well with moisturizer and has SPF. It comes out white and as you blend it in to your skin it changes to match your skin color. I have the shade light and it seems to match me very well. I get light coverage blending it in with my fingers and medium coverage if I use a beauty blender, which is what I do most days. It is now my go to foundation and I definitely recommend trying it if you are looking for a good CC cream!

Colourpop highlighter in Lunch Money – This highlighter was one of the first items I bought from Colourpop and is still one of my most used products. It gives the most beautiful luminous golden glow to this skin without being too harsh for lighter makeup days. I apply it with my ring finger to the tops of my cheekbones, tip of my nose and cupids bow. Since this highlighter is cream based, I do not apply powder over top of it because I feel as if it takes away the extra sheen, which is my favorite part!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water –  I have very sensitive skin and soaping up dry makeup remover wipes to take off my makeup was making my skin red, irritated and dry. I have heard many beauty gurus on YouTube rave about this particular micellar water so I decided to give it a try. I don’t know what is in this water that makes it so magical but it truly is amazing! You get so much product for $9.00 and I no longer have problems removing my eye makeup! It is gentle on my skin, doesn’t dry me out and never burns my eyes. I really wished that I had bought this product sooner. If you also dread taking off your makeup every night like I did please try this out!!

Check out Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water here

Wet N Wild Setting Spray – Still being pretty new into using makeup, I have never used a makeup setting spray. I only recently decided to buy this one because I noticed my foundation looking cakey. So far, I have really been loving setting my makeup! I spritz it all over my face (BEFORE MASCARA!! – trust me, if your mascara is not waterproof you will be left with a black, watery mess) about 7 to 9 times and then let it dry. It’s really that simple! I have noticed that more of my powder lasts until the end of the day and the added moisture is always a bonus.

Check out this Setting Spray here

Formula X nail polish in Revved Up – I received this nail polish in an Ipsy bag in December and fell in love with the formula. I work at a nursing home and this polish still lasts about a week on me. Plus, you can’t beat a good rose gold metallic color. Once this sample runs out I will definitely be purchasing the full size!
